Ending the month with a bang

Ending the month with a bang

… and not a good bang. As I write this (4:45 am CDT), I’m down <74.4>, with one trade (AUDUSD) still open. I woke up early and couldn’t go back to sleep, and then heard an alert on my computer (I usually turn the speakers off at night so the alerts don’t bother me, but I forgot last night), so I got up and looked at the market.  I found the EUR and GBP pairs in significant clear directional moves,…

FOMC day

FOMC day

Got an early start this morning, checking the charts after I got up at 5:30 am.  I found almost everything in a range, and set range breakout orders to exercise the PATI Trading Assistant.  There’s still a rare bug there that I’m trying to find when it deletes the pending orders at the two minute mark.  It doesn’t happen often, so I need to have as many samples as I can get. I got early hits on GBPUSD and EURUSD. …

I’m a little late getting to this post – I’ve been looking at the charts since 4:30 am CDT, and began sticking my toe in a little before 7:00.  I took pullback entries on EURUSD, then EURJPY, then GBPJPY.  Then a failed break out short on the USDJPY, and finally an entry on GBPUSD.  And now all have stopped out (except for the USDJPY, which closed back inside range for <3.2>.  So a half hour before NY open, I’ve taken…

A short morning

A short morning

I got a late start this morning because of attending the early morning Bible study, and the session was over quickly. Nothing much was happening except in the EUR and GBP pairs, which were all in clear directional moves to the upside. I took pullback entries on all 4 pairs, and, one after another, they all stopped out. Took re-entries on GBPJPY and GBPUSD, and they also stopped out.  So, on 6 trades, I had 6 losses, and I’m down…

I may be crazy

I may be crazy

I’ve decided to give it a go this morning.  I don’t usually like trading on Friday, but I’d really like to close out the week positive. It looks like it’s all about Brexit this morning.  GBP pairs are WAY down (over 200 pips), and getting into them may be difficult, or it may be too late.  I’ve got pending trades on GBPUSD and GBPJPY. The EURUSD is also down, though not as much.  I’m in that short on a pullback…

A (small) winning day (at last)

A (small) winning day (at last)

I tried one trade early today.  I came to the charts about 4:30 CDT, saw a big run on the GBP corresponding with news, that was followed by a sustained pullback.  But it looked like the pullback had run its course, and I took a yellow line trade considering that this was still in a clear directional move upward.  I decided I’d give it one try.  That proved to be wrong, and I took a full stop on the GBPUSD…

Yet another day that looked good but escaped

Yet another day that looked good but escaped

I did trade yesterday, though only briefly.  I had an appointment that I had to leave for at 9:45 CDT, so I got about an hour and a half in.  In that time, I entered 5 trades, took 1 full stop and two smaller losses, and two small wins.  Net when I had to leave was <17.3>.  I also made a half-hearted attempt to trade the AUD monetary rate news last night.  There wasn’t a whole lot of movement, but…

London session

London session

This is starting out to be a wierd day. I was awakened  at about 2:15 am – just after the London sesssion open – by the sound of a couple alerts going off on my MT4 trading platform.  I often leave it running overnight, but I try to remember to turn the speaker off before I go to bed.  I apparently forgot last night. I got up to turn the speaker off, then did a quick survey, and found the…

A new day, a new week.

A new day, a new week.

Still trying to clear my head from 3 losing days last week that took me down 6%. But today is a new day and a new week, and I’m approaching it with a fresh attitude. There was some Brexit news as I came to the charts that was sending the EURO and GBP pairs way up, but I was a little late to get into it.  Everything else is pretty much ranging. I was able to get into EURUSD, EURJPY,…

Trading NFP

Trading NFP

I don’t normally trade on Fridays, but because the news this morning is Non-Farm Payroll, and also because I’m still looking to recover some more of my losses from early in the week, I’m going to give it a go. I probably won’t trade much beyond the news. Trade plan is showing the EUR and GBP pairs, and, to a lesser extent, the AUD pairs, in pretty solid directional moves, and the others clearly in ranges.  We’ll see what break…
